My Rock

              I sit silently in pieces
Watching the hands circle the clock
Until you come to comfort me
And let me lean on you, my rock.
I may smile a thousand smiles,
But there is still a wall to block
Out others who long to hurt me.
And through it all, you were my rock.
Your light gives warmth to many,
And I watch as they try to unlock
The gifts you have to offer,
But for me you remain my rock.
Each day is a bright new challenge
For me to choose right over wrong,
And though you may not be with me,
My Rock, you keep me strong.
